Freelance Copyeditor (Remote)

We provide high-quality polishing of content across industries, with a heavy focus on fiction and nonfiction manuscripts of all lengths.

What we look for:

Verifiable freelance or professional copyediting/proofreading experience
Meticulous editing skill and attention to detail
Expertise with style manuals — CMOS, AP, APA
Proficiency in Microsoft Word
Exceptional, responsive communication
Positive, professional, team-oriented attitude
Native English speaker/writer
Familiarity with cultural dialects and vernacular is a plus

Experience preparing quotes and proposals, developing style sheets, invoicing, and proofreading on PDFs is required. All applicants complete our editing test.

We’re open to expand into line editing, sensitivity reading, and beta reading with the right addition(s) to our team. Interested line editors should complete the application below. Sensitivity and beta readers should send a letter of interest through our contact form.

WordWiser Ink is a Black-owned company of editorial professionals, recruited and retained by clients who are actively and specifically seeking to hire Black editors. As a result, we’re not often able to offer projects to editors who aren’t BIPOC.
