Kumari Pacheco, Editor

Kumari Pacheco is an editor, content designer, and writer impassioned by intersectional solutions and storytelling. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Interaction Design with a minor in Writing and Literature.

Currently, Kumari edits books for Row House Publishing, Page Street Publishing, Crossed Crow Books, and A Book Apart. She also volunteers as a juror for both the Scholastic Writing Awards and the Leyla Beban Foundation’s $1000 for 1000 Words writing competition. Her editorial practice centers person-first language and empowers authors of all identities.

When she’s not nose-deep in a manuscript, she can be found walking around comic cons in full cosplay, checking out live music venues, or daydreaming about her next trip abroad.

Something people are surprised to learn about you: I’m a total metalhead and usually go to a concert once a week! 
 
Movies you could watch over and over again: the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and anything from Studio Ghibli.
 
One thing you’re hilariously bad at: Cooking! The ultimate letdown for someone with both Black and Mexican heritage. 
 
Fave candy: Twix! I can’t control myself around them.
 
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? There’s no use in making yourself sick over something you can’t change. Keep it moving!
