Copyediting and proofreading, done thoroughly
We focus on two disciplines and do them well, with specialized depth for business, technical, medical, and scientific content. No line editing, no developmental editing—that’s a deliberate line we don’t cross.
01 — Copyediting
Mechanics, correctness, and consistency.
Copyediting focuses on the mechanics of style: grammar, spelling, usage, and the consistency that makes a manuscript or document feel like one coherent piece of work.
- Grammar, spelling, and usage
- Style application (Chicago Manual of Style, AP, MLA, APA)
- Punctuation, numeralization, capitalization, abbreviations
- Style sheet development, or working from one you provide
- Consistency and continuity — names, timelines, facts, anachronisms
- Tables, figures, and lists
- Front matter, back matter, and cover copy
- Web links
02 — Proofreading
The final check before it goes live.
Proofreading happens after layout, on material in its final format — catching what survives everything before it. It always follows copyediting; it’s never a substitute for it.
- Minor mechanical errors — spelling, grammar, punctuation, hyphenation
- Repeated words, phrases, or paragraphs
- Corrupted characters from software conversion
- Consistent fonts, running heads, headings, hyperlinks, metadata
- Design consistency — leading, kerning, line breaks, margins
- Placement and captions for photos and graphics
- Matching contents to page numbers
- Text and image juxtaposition on the page
We proofread manuscripts and galleys, website copy, digital content, blogs, project documentation, proposals, presentations, business documents, PR materials, press releases, and more.
03 — Business Editing
Clear communication, high stakes.
When you’re too close to your own writing, you tend to see what you meant rather than what’s actually on the page. We catch the gap — inconsistent punctuation, mismatched audience level, wordiness, or a message that isn’t landing the way it should.
- Annual reports and public documents
- Business plans and internal documents
- Website copy
- Marketing and advertising materials
- Presentations
- Sales proposals and RFP responses
- Corporate communications
- Grant and fundraising materials
- Newsletters, e-zines, and blogs
- Policies and procedures manuals
- Press releases and media kits
- Executive bios and company histories
04 — Technical Editing
An editor who speaks the language.
Technical material needs an editor who actually understands it — not just the mechanics of style, but whether the content itself is clear, accurate, and pitched at the right level for its audience.
- User manuals and installation guides
- Knowledge base and FAQ content
- API and code documentation
- Internal development plans
- Marketing and product specifications
- Processes and procedures
- Functional specifications
- Systems reference and tutorials
- White papers and topical guides
05 — Medical & Scientific Editing
Peer-review-ready, every time.
Once a medical or scientific manuscript is accepted for publication, it still needs a professional copyedit — checking consistency, style, references, tables, figures, and adherence to AMA style alongside each journal’s own house guidelines.
Our editors have written or reviewed content for the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) , Pearson Education, the American Physiological Society, Educational Testing Services, the American Heart Association, and the Austin American-Statesman .
