About Taleiah

Taleiah Todd-Hill

I’m Taleiah. It’s pronounced Tah-lay-ah, like Princess Leia with an extra Ta- at the beginning and an H at the end. I’ve been a copyeditor for more than a decade. My undergraduate degree is in English (with an emphasis in creative writing) and Spanish from UC Davis.

I received my M.A. in Publishing and Writing from Emerson College. While there, I pretty much read The Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) cover to cover, so I know it well. I do work with other style guides, but CMOS is the one I know best.

I’ve been editing ever since I graduated from Emerson, and I love it. I love the constant learning that comes with being an editor, like the way language is constantly changing. I get genuinely excited whenever Merriam Webster or CMOS or some other editorial bible sends out updates, new additions, and new editions. Yes, I’m that level of nerdy. Even the topics in the manuscripts I get from clients offer an opportunity to learn something new. It’s constant education and looking stuff up—my nerdy paradise.

I’ve worked on a variety of different texts, including children’s puzzle books, market research, financial analysis, literary magazines, mysteries, religious works, fiction and nonfiction books, and more.

If I seem like a good fit, I’d love to learn more about your editing needs. I promise I’ll try not to nerd-out too much.
